The Opportunity
Leavitt Industrial Group is looking for a
Communications Specialist
to join our team in
Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta
. As the Communications Specialist, you will play a central role in advancing the company's internal communications and will be responsible for building and managing the employee communication platform. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to create impactful content and work with a dynamic team that values innovation, collaboration, and meaningful storytelling.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
As the Communications Specialist, your key responsibilities will include:
- Build, manage, and maintain the employee communication platform using SharePoint
- Lead ongoing content development for the platform, ensuring content is engaging and aligned with organizational objectives
- Develop and distribute internal communications including announcements, newsletters, leadership messages, and campaign updates
- Write, edit, and design content for multiple channels including the employee platform, email, and presentations
- Act as a steward of the company's internal brand voice and tone, ensuring brand consistency across all communications
- Plan, execute, and support change management communication campaigns that drive awareness, engagement, and action across employee and stakeholder groups
- Monitor and analyze platform engagement and campaign performance; make data-informed recommendations to improve communication effectiveness and reach
- Maintain communications calendars and ensure timely delivery of content and materials
- Support events, presentations, and leadership communications with planning and materials development
- Collaborate with Shared Services, senior leadership, and business units on organizational change initiatives and ensure timely, targeted communications across digital platforms
Required Skills & Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge, and competencies:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field, such as Communications, Journalism, or English
- At least 5 years of progressive communications work experience
- Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience working with SharePoint and Microsoft Viva Suite
- Working knowledge of graphic design applications, including Adobe CC and Canva
- Professional communication skills, including the ability to work with internal stakeholders at all levels
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability work effectively independently and in a dynamic work environment

The base pay range for this role is: $70,000 to $80,000 annually, depending on experience.

hybrid
role based in
Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta.
