Job Summary

The In-Community Program Specialist supports the planning, direction, implementation, and supervision of Tims Camps Community Programs which take place at schools and /or community group spaces in their designated region. The In-Community Program Specialist is responsible for ensuring participants have a positive, high quality program experience for long term impact. This role will ensure a focus on high quality program facilitation and delivery for maximum impact. The In-Community Program Specialist role applies their knowledge of youth development, outdoor and experiential education, program quality systems, and demonstrated excellence in coaching and facilitation to provide direction, coaching and support to their direct reports and the youth we serve.

Work Location

Calgary or Edmonton: Daily travel is required within the assigned geographic area (Calgary or Edmonton). This role will work remotely from Calgary or Edmonton. Travel beyond the primary geographic region will be required. Occasional travel will be required to the Home Office, located in St. George, Ontario.

Employment type

This is a contract position with an anticipated start date of January 2026 until March 2026.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Youth engagement

  • Develop, deliver, review, and improve creative and innovative programming to be delivered at schools and community locations for high quality program experiences ensuring alignment with outcomes and program quality frameworks.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and creativity through building outcome specific, engaging, creative, fun and interactive programs.
  • Facilitate programs based on Tims Camps program curriculum, standards, and local operating procedures.
  • Evaluate programs and the delivery of them via the TIMpact365 measurement strategy.
  • Provide direction and guidance to participants that celebrates their differences and plans for their success.
  • Ensure participants are engaged and recognized for their contributions and achievements.
  • Provide support to participants, staff and educators in assisting with participant behaviour management issues.
  • Contribute to digital and social media creation efforts to support youth engagement and preparedness.
  • Support Field Team Lead and Facilitation and Instruction Lead, with finalizing program schedules, purchasing, inventory updates, and completing assigned documentation.
  • Complete progress reports and all necessary documentation in Salesforce. Ensure all Tims Camps Salesforce practices are maintained.
  • Support with communication to parents, guardians and schools as directed/needed.

Customer Service

  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of the program and work collaboratively with functional teams when required.
  • For a variety of different user groups, display excellence in facilitation, group management and oversee the instructional program.
  • As an agent for Tims Camps in the community, ensure a consistent front-line hospitable and customer service-oriented presence.
  • Participate in and support restaurant owner engagement initiatives including the planning and delivery of camp events. Work collaboratively with the THFC communications team.
  • Ensure program areas, activity spaces and program equipment are ready and available for safe participant use. This includes inventory, maintenance schedules, etc.
  • Complete assigned administrative duties.
  • Support cross functional tasks as required.
  • Build and foster positive relationships with teachers, administrators, and other education stakeholders.

Risk Management

  • Be accountable for risk assessment and implementation of Tims Camps safety standards/protocols/procedures which includes teaching and monitoring safe implementation of activity-based learning.
  • Ensure staff and participants are following proper safety standards and/or guidelines that apply to work in a school or community setting.
  • Complete emergency response training and ensure clear understanding of assigned responsibilities while working on location/site.
  • Follow direction from THFC risk management teams on protocols and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree and/or college background in Education, Outdoor Experiential Education or related field/similar experience. Bachelor of Education degree considered an asset.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills with strong time management, project management, and organizational skills across multiple priorities and projects.
  • 3+ years of experience working with children/youth of various abilities, preferably in an education and/or outdoor/camp setting.
  • Skilled in behaviour management and problem solving.
  • Ability to exercise good judgement and professionalism when interacting with schools and community groups.
  • Demonstrated excellence in program facilitation.
  • Access to a personal vehicle and licensed with a valid G Class Driver's License, or equivalent (required).
  • Must have, or be able to obtain upon hire, the required level of third-party business class liability insurance coverage for the role.
  • Daily travel required within designated geographic area. Must be able to work a flexible schedule which could include working early mornings, evenings and weekends.
  • Current Standard First Aid/CPR-C certification considered an asset.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Are legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Able to provide an acceptable criminal background check or vulnerable sector check.
  • Bilingual in French and English considered an asset.
