Customer Service Associate Job Summary

Our growing food retail business requires a friendly and dynamic individual to join our team as a Customer Service Associate. As the applicant, you are enthusiastic about customer service, quality, and merchandising, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.

Customer Service Associate Responsibilities and Duties

  • Ensure that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment, including greeting and acknowledging every guest, directing them to products in the store, maintaining solid product knowledge and all other components of customer service.
  • Complete all register sales transactions accurately and efficiently, and maintain proper cash and media accountability at the POS, including balancing cash drawers at the beginning and end of each work day.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly appearance of the store at all times, so that customers may enjoy a safe and appealing shopping experience; cleaning activities include, but are not limited to sweeping, mopping, dusting, washing windows and removing garbage.
  • Assist in the replenishing of product and monitoring floor stock to ensure sales and quality, and to limit potential product waste.
  • Create and maintain appealing product displays to encourage continuing sales.
  • Prepare fresh food items such as squeezed juice and cored pineapple.
  • Prepare and fulfill all store services, including, but not limited to, food orders, fruit baskets and deliveries, and ensure orders are accurate and carried out using store policies and procedures to achieve customer satisfaction.
  • Remove fresh product to appropriate coolers at closing time according to established procedures.
  • Train new Customer Service Team Members in all manner of the job in order to maintain consistency in the department.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with team members, as well as other department members, to offer quality customer service.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Customer Service Associate Performance Standards

  • Demonstrates a positive, team-player attitude and a strong focus on customer satisfaction in this challenging and fast paced environment.
  • Exhibits adaptability and flexibility to the goals of the department and are able to work quickly and efficiently for extended periods of time.
  • Shows a proficiency in multi-tasking as well as organizational and prioritizing skills.
  • Established goals and tasks are completed with any level or absence of supervision; employees will seek support from management when needed but are required to use self-motivation.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills are utilized.
  • Adherence to the policies, procedure and standards relating to customer service, safety and store/department operations are demonstrated consistently.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing during each shift. The employee must frequently lift items ranging from 5-50lbs.

Expected Hours of Work:

Day, evening, weekend and holiday hours are required.

Customer Service Associate Requirements:

  • Willingness to work independently or with supervisors and staff to solve problems and meet department goals.
  • A positive attitude.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Communication proficiency.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • A professional appearance.
  • Customer service experience an asset but not required.

Pay: $17.60 per hour
