We are hiring a dedicated Kitchen Helper at the Chances Casino in Prince Rupert, BC to join our culinary team.

This role is essential in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will support food preparation, assist with bussing and serving, and ensure all kitchen areas meet hygiene standards. We are looking for someone with a Food Safe Certificate, and knowledge of basic food handling, cleaning procedures, and kitchen safety practices.

Previous experience in food service, or hospitality is a plus, but we welcome motivated individuals eager to learn. This position offers an opportunity to gain valuable culinary and restaurant experience in a fast-paced setting. This role includes lots of standing and walking as part of your role as our kitchen helper will include bussing tables and clearing dining areas during service hours, washing dishes and kitchen equipment, as well as assisting with food preparation tasks such as peeling, kitchen, chopping, and assembling ingredients.

This role pays $18.00/hour and is a part-time role with 20-30 hours of work available each week. You'll need to flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evening and weekends if necessary. This is a great starting point for someone who wants to work in kitchens and restaurants.

DUTIES

  • Assist with food preparation tasks such as peeling, chopping, and assembling ingredients under supervision
  • Support bussing tables and clearing dining areas during service hours
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, floors, and storage areas in accordance with health and safety standards
  • Help with basic food handling and storage procedures to prevent contamination
  • Support the overall cleanliness and organization of the kitchen to promote a safe working environment
  • Wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment to ensure cleanliness and readiness for use

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be 19+
  • Food Safe Certificate
  • Prior experience in food service, restaurant, hotel, or catering environments is preferred but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential
  • Knowledge of basic food handling, cleaning procedures, and kitchen safety practices
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic with a focus on cleanliness and hygiene standards
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings or weekends if required
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods
