Summary
The Youth and Community Liaison – Education and Post Secondary plays a key role in advancing supportive, culturally grounded education pathways for Indigenous youth. Working closely with the Education Pathway Facilitator and Post Secondary Pathway Facilitator, this position connects youth, communities, and strategic partners, ensuring youth and community voices are meaningfully integrated into initiatives that support Indigenous youth participation and success.
The Opportunity
Youth and Community Liaison – Education and Post-Secondary
This position focuses on creating culturally grounded education pathways for Indigenous youth by serving as a connector between youth, communities, and strategic partners. Working closely with Education and Post-Secondary Pathway Facilitators, the Liaison leads youth engagement, builds strong community relationships, and ensures youth and community voices shape planning, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Co-developing and co-leading a Youth Advisory Council.
- Facilitating dialogue with youth and communities.
- Translating insights into actionable recommendations for strategic planning.
- Supporting collaborative initiatives that promote student success and systemic change.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma
- Lived experience and/or deep understanding of challenges Indigenous youth face in education and post secondary transitions
- Experience in youth and Indigenous community engagement, facilitation, and partnership development
- Experience working in or alongside the education system is considered an asset
Cultural and Contextual Knowledge
- Awareness of Indigenous communities and cultures in Atlantic Canada
- Familiarity with Indigenous organizational ecosystems supporting youth and community development
- Knowledge of Indigenous traditions and ways of knowing related to education, youth development, and wellness
Facilitation and Coordination
- Experience facilitating group discussions and gatherings
- Ability to synthesize feedback and engagement data into actionable insights
Communication & Relationship Building
- Strong relationship building and communication skills with youth, Elders, families, and partners
- Collaborative mindset with ability to work independently and in teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Project & Time Management
- Self motivated, organized, able to manage multiple priorities
- Flexible and adaptable to evolving needs
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and cloud based environments
- Demonstrated ability to work in a cloud based environment
Conditions of Employment
- Remote work based in Atlantic Canada
- Regular travel across Atlantic provinces (approx. 50%)
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle
- Ability to use a computer and peripherals
- Overtime as required; willingness to work evenings or weekends

Duration
5 year term position
This is a full time position that follows usual business hours (Monday through Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm AST) with some flexibility outside of these hours based on operational need.
