The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Property Manager to oversee the management and maintenance of YSM's buildings, facilities and vehicle fleet in support of YSM programs and staff team. A highly motivated person will bring their eye for detail and organization skills to a complex and dynamic environment. 

Reporting to the Director, Technology and Facilities, this role will provide leadership to the Property Services Department team and support the work of the entire organization by ensuring that our facilities, buildings and vehicles are well maintained and ready for our staff teams to serve those who enter our spaces.

Responsibilities:

  • Management of day-to-day department operations for maintenance and repair of buildings, YSM property (parking lots), vehicles and other property related services
  • Management of the Property Services Department team, providing support and forward thinking to the team to develop skills and abilities
  • Management of vendor contracts and services to maximize donor resources
  • Management of YSM vehicle fleet and maintenance, ensuring the safety and compliance of all ministry of transportation requirements for commercial use vehicles
  • Prioritization of PSD maintenance, repair and pickup requests via the ticketing system, allocating requests accordingly based on team resources
  • Development and monitoring of maintenance and repair budgets; tracking and monitoring expenses, and identify cost-savings opportunities (e.g., energy audits or bulk purchasing)
  • Management of inventory supplies for cleaning services, maintenance work and other property related resources and prepares reports for operational efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with building regulations (e.g. fire code, accessibility standards under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), as well as other federal and provincial laws
  • Coordination of emergency responses, such as after-hours repairs or weather-related issues common in Toronto (e.g., flooding or winter storms)
  • Record maintenance for building maintenance, repairs and documentation for capital projects
  • Collaboration with other leaders and Joint Health & Safety Committee in ensuring workplace safety, efficiency, and sustainability of facilities

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education or degree in Business Administration, Property Management or a related field (e.g., Administration Services) or a combination of 3-5 years of comparable skills and experience
  • Certificate or diploma as a Certified Property Manager or buildings & facilities management is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Strong organization and management skills, experience with complex and large budgets
  • Strong technical skills, working with computer applications and systems
  • Superior interpersonal skills and very strong person-to-person relationship-building skills
  • Exemplary attention to detail with excellent planning, organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple and changing demands
  • Proven ability to exercise diplomacy, sound judgment, and superior customer service
  • Demonstrated personal commitment to and understanding of the mission and values of YSM
  • Valid Ontario Driver's License is required
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings/weekends and on-call for emergency situations
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs, climb ladders and perform manual labour if required

Compensation: YSM offers market competitive rates and will pay a starting salary of $73,232.25 for this role, combined with a comprehensive suite of benefits and perks
