To support ongoing growth and long-term strategic goals, our client is seeking an experienced Director, Finance & Accounting to lead enterprise-wide financial operations.

This is a senior leadership role based at the corporate head office in Edmonton, Alberta, offering the opportunity to partner directly with executive leadership and influence business strategy at the highest level.

The Role

Reporting to the President & CEO, the Director, Finance & Accounting will be responsible for the overall financial stewardship of the organization. As a trusted advisor to the executive team, you will lead financial planning, reporting, compliance, and team development while ensuring the company's financial structure supports scalability, profitability, and disciplined growth.

This role blends strategic leadership with hands-on execution and is well-suited for a finance professional who thrives in fast-paced, multi-entity environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership over all finance and accounting functions, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and compliance
• Deliver clear, actionable financial insights to support executive decision-making and long-term strategic planning
• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and consistency
• Design, maintain, and enhance internal controls, financial policies, and governance frameworks
• Lead the annual audit process and act as the primary liaison with external auditors
• Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and reporting obligations
• Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Development, People & Culture, IT, Marketing, and other business units to evaluate initiatives and improve financial performance
• Drive improvements in financial systems, ERP platforms, reporting tools, and performance metrics
• Manage banking relationships, cash flow, treasury activities, and foreign exchange exposure
• Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing Finance & Accounting team

What We're Looking For

• CPA designation required; MBA or advanced finance credential considered a strong asset
• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in finance and accounting
• Background in franchise, QSR, retail, or multi-unit environments is highly desirable
• Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP, audit processes, and financial compliance
• Proven success leading budgeting, forecasting, cost management, and strategic planning initiatives
• Advanced experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools
• Confident, collaborative leader with strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to balance strategic oversight with operational involvement
