Job Overview

We are hiring a dedicated and reliable Material Processor & Receiver to join our team at our indoor metal recycling facility. This is a hands-on role suited for someone who enjoys physical work, teamwork, and learning about metal recycling operations. You will be responsible for receiving, sorting, and processing recyclable materials such as copper, aluminum, and brass, ensuring each type is properly graded and prepared for shipment.

You will also play a key role in maintaining a safe and efficient workflow by operating forklifts, organizing inventory, and keeping the facility clean and compliant with health and safety standards. As a vital member of our operations team, you will interact directly with customers, suppliers, and drivers to support a smooth recycling process from intake to final shipping.

This position offers long-term growth potential for individuals looking to build a career in metal recycling and materials processing. Pay rate starts at $20 per hour, and Shifts are from Monday to Friday- 7:00am - 4:30pm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and sort materials by type and grade (non-ferrous metals such as copper, aluminum, and brass)
  • Manually sort and upgrade materials for final processing
  • Operate a counterbalance forklift to move, load, and unload materials
  • Organize and label incoming and outgoing shipments
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in work areas, ensuring floors and drive-in doors remain clear
  • Occasionally operate a small truck for local pickups and deliveries
  • Provide general assistance around the plant as required

Qualifications:

  • Strong English communication skills (spoken and written)
  • Knowledge of non-ferrous metal grades (copper, aluminium, brass, wire, stainless steel, etc.)
  • Valid G-Class Driver's License
  • Valid Forklift License
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in hot, cold, or dusty environments
  • CSA-approved safety shoes required (other safety gear provided)
  • Health & Safety certification (can be completed online via the Ministry of Labour)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
