NorQuesters are difference makers We are seeking three (3) experienced professionals to join us as Curriculum Developers/OER Writers for the creation of a new textbook for the Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (MDRT) program.
The Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) will contribute prescribed chapters and various textbook materials (chapter materials, media, activities, glossary) for our new Open Education Resource (OER) textbook, which will replace the current resource. This textbook will help learners acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to succeed in the MDRT program and successfully obtain their CMDRT or CRCST certification.
As an SME and chapter author, you will collaborate with MDRT leadership, the Curriculum Development team, and other experts to create engaging content and interactive activities. The Curriculum Development team will provide support for digitizing the content.
You will need to possess exceptional expertise and knowledge of sterile processing methods, procedures, and processes, as well as integrate CSA and HSPA standards in your writing. Technology skills are important as the textbook will be digital. In addition, you will need excellent time management, organization and written communication skills.
This is a contract role (not exceeding 4 months), where multiple writers will collaborate to develop high-quality, accurate, and engaging chapters covering key topics in surgical reprocessing.
As a curriculum developer/OER writer, you will use technology and online collaboration tools to research, write, and format educational materials that meet academic and industry standards. The two courses that will be supported by this textbook are:

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
- Develop well-structured, clearly written textbook chapters on topics related to medical device reprocessing.
- Create textbook content, including chapters, media, interactive activities, and glossaries
- Ensure content aligns with learning outcomes and current MDRT best practices and standards.
- Incorporate visuals, case studies, activities, and examples to enhance learner engagement.
- Develop chapter outcomes and interactive materials.
- Collaborate with other writers, editors, and subject matter experts to maintain consistency and accuracy across chapters.
- Effectively manage time to ensure the project is completed on schedule.
- Monitor and report on development progress bi-weekly
- Participate in debrief meetings(s), and provide specific recommendations related to the OER, the materials, etc.
WHAT YOU BRING
- At least two years of recent experience working in an acute care MDRA.
Current CMDRT certification is required as is extensive knowledge about CSA reprocessing standards
Familiarity with OER principles, Creative Commons licensing, and accessibility standards.
- Familiarity with an adult learning environment, preferably post-secondary environment
- Commitment to EDIAR and decolonial indigenization.
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to write educational content for adult learners, with the ability to explain complex concepts simply
- Familiarity with instructional design principles and digital writing tools are considered assets
