Your Opportunity

Our Calgary office is seeking Project Managers with experience leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver large complex projects (Healthcare, Commercial, Retail, Aviation, Transportation, Education, and Justice).

Your Key Responsibilities

Project/Practice Management:

  • Directly manage complex projects to achieve client satisfaction, quality deliverables, schedule, and budgeting objectives.
  • Work with our Project Team and Partners to create, implement and regularly update project execution plans, work plans, resource plans, risk management plans, etc.
  • Manage day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope to ensure contractually compliant deliverables are issued within project schedule timelines.
  • Assume responsibility (in partnership with the assigned Principal in Charge) for technical and design excellence.
  • Ensure project documents, including contracts and additional service requests are approved, and filed in accordance with Stantec processes and procedures.

Project Accounting:

  • Update project financials on a regular basis (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly) using Stantec's proprietary tools.
  • Manage project budget and schedule, including tracking and reporting of internal and external sub-consultant team hours and expenses.
  • Lead project change management processes, in collaboration with the Principal in Charge, to address additional scope of works and facilitate commercial negotiations with client(s) as necessary to amend the contract parameters.
  • Support the Principal in Charge in developing and negotiating sub-consultant fees, agreeing contracts and managing their subsequent invoicing / cashflow / additional services through project lifecycle.
  • Monitor revenue/gross margin recognition and analyzes bill rates and utilization targets for project teams.
  • Ensure timely and accurate invoicing and monitor receivables and collection of invoices.
  • Report on project financial performance and where necessary, identify financial risk and proposed mitigation strategies, to senior management using Stantec's project governance processes.

Communications:

  • Facilitate regular team and client meetings, whilst ensuring discussions are properly recorded, minutes issued and filed.
  • Keep project team well informed of changes and updates.
  • Deliver engaging, formative, well-organized presentations both verbally and in writing.
  • Identify, resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion.
  • Understand how to communicate difficult/sensitive information to clients and internal leadership.

Leadership:

  • Mentor and inspire project team members.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change.
  • Remain engaged and knowledgeable regarding emerging industry practices.
  • Comply with and help to enforce Stantec policies and procedures.
  • Actively support Stantec's Safer Together and Safety programs and is required to complete all Health and Safety documentation.

Teamwork:

  • Effectively utilize each team member to his/her fullest potential.
  • Motivate team to work together efficiently.
  • Mitigate team conflict and communication challenges.
  • Consistently acknowledge and appreciate team members and their contributions.
  • Keep track of lessons learned and share those lessons with team members, peers, and clients.
  • Plan and facilitate team activities that promote Stantec's Safer Together Program.

Technical Understanding:

  • Possess a general understanding of core and shell, interiors design and construction.
  • Possess an understanding of Stantec capabilities.
  • Regularly seek continuing education opportunities to increase knowledge base in applicable technical areas, as identified.

Client Management:

  • Manage day-to-day client interaction. Evaluate and manage client expectations.
  • Seek opportunities to increase client satisfaction and develops lasting relationships with clients.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to identify needs, evaluate alternative solutions, and deliver value added services.
  • Build a knowledge base of each client's business, organization, and objectives.

Business Development:

  • Identify business development and additional service opportunities for all Stantec disciplines as they relate to a specific project, program, or client. Engage in proposal efforts, including completing project scoping and pricing.




Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
