The position:

We are actively seeking a highly motivated Structural Designer to join our talented team. This is an on-site position working out of our Calgary office.

What will you be doing?

  • Collect client and project information and prepare structural designs/drawings in accordance with best practice design and relevant codes and standards.
  • Working with project engineers to assist in coordination of drawings sets with client expectations including architectural coordination, value engineering and industry standard practices
  • Use AutoCAD to prepare 2D drawing sets for construction level documents in various materials (wood, steel, concrete, precast products, etc.).
  • Use Revit to prepare 3D Building Information (BIM) models and export to 2D drawing sets.
  • Coordinate structural design with Architecture, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, and other project consultants under the direction of the project Engineer.
  • Visit project site to collect required information.
  • Visit Construction site to complete construction reviews.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by project engineers.

What you bring?

  • A bachelor's degree in structural engineering with a minimum of 2-5 years experience.

  • Registered as an Engineer-in-training (E.I.T.) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) is considered an asset.

  • Experience designing multi-family residential buildings.

  • Basic design experience in wood, structural steel and/ or concrete. Experience with ETABS and SAFE will be considered an asset.

  • Basic knowledge in AutoCAD and Revit
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
