About Mystik Café

Mystik Café is Toronto's first immersive reptile and ocean-inspired café — where specialty coffee, handcrafted desserts, and exotic encounters meet.

Located in Kensington Market, we serve classic espresso drinks, creative lattes, refreshers, and fresh pastries and desserts inside a moody, nature-inspired environment featuring our Reptile Jungle Experience.

Our mission is to create a space that's stylish, educational, and sensory — where curiosity and craftsmanship go hand in hand.

About the Role

We're looking for a skilled and reliable Barista with real coffee-making experience and a passion for quality.

This role blends technical skill and guest engagement — you'll dial in espresso, craft drinks beautifully, and guide customers through our menu and ticketed reptile experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare espresso-based drinks and signature lattes consistently and with precision.
  • Calibrate the grinder and espresso machine each morning for balanced extraction.
  • Maintain espresso equipment and brewing tools throughout the day.
  • Greet guests, explain our café menu and reptile jungle tickets, and answer questions with confidence.
  • Upsell drinks, desserts, or experience upgrades in a natural, friendly way.
  • Keep the bar area clean, organized, and stocked at all times.
  • Support teammates and maintain Mystik's calm, immersive environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months of barista or café experience (espresso machine required).
  • Strong understanding of coffee preparation, milk steaming, and grinder calibration.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Attention to detail and consistency under pressure.
  • Comfortable engaging guests and explaining products or experiences.
  • Bonus: interest in reptiles, nature, or education — or open curiosity to learn.
