Founded in 1994 in north-end Whitby, MBJ relocated to a historic property in downtown Brooklin in 2009 and later expanded to downtown Port Perry, offering a full-service firm for business owners and individuals alike.

This is a full-time, in-office position (remote work is not available). We offer a collegial, family-like environment with strong support for learning, collaboration, and professional growth.

The Ideal Candidate

You are a polished professional who understands the importance of confidentiality, attention to detail, and clear communication. You are comfortable managing files independently, drafting litigation documents, and working in a busy practice. Litigation experience is preferred, and a working knowledge of Clio is a strong asset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Initial client intake and ongoing client communications conducted professionally and courteously
  • File management from opening to closing, including all administrative procedures
  • Scheduling and managing lawyer calendars, deadlines, and daily priorities
  • Liaising with the Court, including drafting and filing approved court documents
  • Communicating with opposing counsel and third parties
  • Drafting pleadings, affidavits of documents, discovery plans, and related litigation materials
  • Maintaining accurate time docketing
  • Handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Providing clerical and administrative support to lawyers and legal staff as required

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Law Clerk diploma
  • Litigation experience required (minimum 3 years strongly preferred)
  • Strong legal drafting skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Working knowledge of Clio preferred
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Professional appearance, dependable work ethic, and proactive mindset

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
