Evergreen School Division is seeking a Student Services Teacher to support students in the Connect Program, based out of Dr. George Johnson Middle School. Connect is a specialized program designed to support Grade K-6 students with complex communication, sensory, and regulation needs, who require a highly structured and individualized learning environment in order to participate successfully in school.

Evergreen School Division is located in the Interlake region of Manitoba, bordering the shores of Lake Winnipeg from Chalet Beach north to Hecla Island. Dr. George Johnson School is located in Gimli, approximately 90 km north of Winnipeg.

Students in the Connect program will spend part of their day in the Connect classroom and part of their day in their home schools. The successful candidate will work closely with Educational Assistants, clinicians, and school-based teams to provide intensive support focused on communication, self-regulation, engagement, and foundational academic skills, while supporting inclusive participation in students' neighbourhood schools.

Student Service Teacher Candidate Qualifications:

  • A valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate
  • Early and Middle Years teaching experience
  • Ability to work with Kindergarten to Grade 6 students who have complex communication and regulation needs
  • Experience or training in supporting students with Autism, FASD, and/or complex trauma
  • Knowledge of sensory-informed and regulation-based classroom practices
  • Experience using AAC, visual supports, and structured teaching strategies
  • Knowledge and experience with Tier 2 and Tier 3 reading interventions
  • Experience working in a consultative–collaborative resource model
  • Skills in supporting the development and implementation of IEPs, BIPs, and AEPS
  • Knowledge and ability to provide leadership in coordinating and supporting Educational Assistants
  • Commitment to involvement in a highly collaborative school culture
  • Knowledge of strategies to support Indigenous learners in a cross-cultural setting
  • Knowledge in and experience using the Evergreen Eight teaching strategies
    Ability and desire to build strong relationships with students, families, and staff
