Black Owl Systems is looking for a client facing CPA who wants to move beyond traditional firm work and help build the next generation of finance technology.

This role sits at the intersection of accounting, product, and sales. You will become a product expert in our lease accounting platform, work directly with controllers and chief financial officers, and help finance teams move away from complex spreadsheets into a modern, automated solution.

This is not an accounting role. It is a client facing, problem solving, and advisory role.

Location: Calgary, Alberta

What You Will Do

Lead product demonstrations and support the sales process as a subject matter expert, joining calls to answer technical accounting questions and explain how our solution supports real world financial reporting.

Guide clients through onboarding, including lease data preparation, data loading, validation, and first month end in the system.

Serve as the first line of support for customer questions after go live, diagnose issues, and coordinate with product and engineering when escalation is required.

Develop deep product knowledge and solicit client feedback into our product roadmap, helping to shape best practices and new features.

Who You Are

You are a CPA with audit or enterprise financial reporting experience who enjoys working directly with clients.

You can run discovery meetings, ask the right follow-up questions, and translate accounting requirements into practical next steps.

You prefer problem-solving over routine task work and you enjoy being accountable for the outcome.

You have a natural presence with clients and are comfortable contributing to sales conversations, without feeling like you are "selling."

Required Qualifications

CPA designation.

Experience in enterprise financial reporting, such as audit of larger entities, public company reporting, complex private groups, or multi entity environments.

Client facing experience in roles such as audit, advisory, technical accounting, controllership, or finance transformation.

Bonus Qualifications

Lease accounting experience under IFRS 16 or ASC 842.

Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, or Workday.

Experience supporting software implementations, finance system conversions, or process improvement projects.
