The Garrison Night Market Assistant will help curate, produce, and operate this market in Fredericton during the busy summer months. This position requires the qualified candidate to work daytime shifts Monday – Friday (with flexibility to work Thursday night shifts from June 11 - September 10) for the duration of the contract. The successful applicant will have exceptional written communication along with strong interpersonal and organizational skills. The ability to prioritize, work independently, and take initiative will be essential.

What You'll Do:

  • Assisting with the administration and operation of the Garrison Night Market.
  • Working with different technologies such as MS Office Suite, digital applications, and social media platforms. 
  • Written communication with individual vendors and mass communications through email and social media. 
  • Maintain weekly vendor and operations schedules and lists.
  • All staff are deployed as part of the operations team at the market – assisting and interacting with the public, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, loading, and climbing.
  • Other duties as required.

  • A positive attitude and eagerness to learn are essential. 
  • Ability to stay calm in stressful situations and take initiative to seek out solutions quickly.
  • Upbeat, self-motivated, and organized person.

Nice to have:

  • Event planning or market experience is an asset.
  • Fluency in both NB official languages is a preference.
  • A valid driver's license is an advantage.
  • Customer service experience is an asset.

Doing this job well requires a dedicated, resourceful, flexible, and committed individual. 

Many tasks require attention to detail and the ability to concentrate in a busy environment. Much of your day could be spent on your feet and requires an upbeat attitude. Lifting heavy items, moving tables and chairs, setting up tents and other infrastructure is a regular occurrence.

While there are tasks that will be located inside climate-controlled environments, being outside during the markets in varying degrees of weather is a big component of the position.

The Garrison Night Market Assistant position will report directly to the manager of the market. Tasks assigned by other staff will flow through them.
