Position Summary: As an Assistant Superintendent you will support the Superintendent and Project Manager in the successful completion of your assigned projects. You will participate in overseeing job site safety, quality, project scheduling, and will be responsible for the successful planning, coordination, and execution of work that delivers project milestones on time and within budget, attaining or exceeding profit goals. This position reports to the Project Superintendent.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist the Superintendent in managing work on site to ensure the compliance of construction with the drawings and specifications.
- Support the Superintendent in planning and implementing schedules, conducting inspections, determining manpower levels and material and equipment quantities, and maintaining all other site requirements.
- Monitor work performance to ensure project rules, procedures, and safety requirements are being followed.
- Advise the Superintendent and Project Manager of potential problems, work interferences, and schedule difficulties and assist in resolving these problems.
- Maintain and analyze up-to-date cost reports and submit necessary changes to ensure the project is delivered within budget.
Job Specifications:
- Relevant post-secondary education with a minimum of 3-5 year's related experience or equivalent experience in a progressively evolving role. Project Management experience is necessary.
- Excellent time management skills
- Prior experience as a construction foreman or equivalent role
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety laws (Provincial & Federal)
- Flexible hours
Working Conditions:
Physical Conditions – Prolonged sitting and use of computer appliances in an office environment, Job site safety.
Psychological Conditions – Completing deadlines.
Incumbent must comply with all pertinent legislation and associated regulations. This may include, but is not limited to: PIPEDA, Occupational Health & Safety Act, WSIB, Employment Standards Act.
