• Earn a competitive hourly rate of $ $25.76 (inclusive of provincial and federal grants), with an additional split shift premium of 50 cents per hour.
Location: Various School Sites in Oakville
Hours of Work: Part-Time position, Monday to Friday: 7:00am to 9:00am and/or 2:30pm to 6:00pm (Hours may vary, depending on school dismissal times)
In this role, a typical day may look like:
• Inspire and Engage: Develop and facilitate a before and after school program for students 3.8 – 12 years of age within their school, promoting inspiration, engagement, and cultivating a nurturing environment with positive interactions.
• Cultivate Safety and Belonging: Create a warm and welcoming atmosphere where the well-being of every child is at the core, overseeing their safety through attentive supervision, adherence to attendance protocols, and thoughtfully designed activities.
• Tailor Learning Experiences: Implement the YMCA curriculum, skillfully customizing it to meet the diverse needs, interests, and talents of each child, ensuring they thrive in their learning journey.
• Collaborate Professionally and Build Connections: Collaborate effectively with team members and build positive relationships with children, families, staff, volunteers, and placement students.
• Communicate with Compassion: Interact sensitively and courteously with children, parents, staff, and the wider community, fostering a positive and inclusive environment through every interaction.
• Assist in Nourishment: Contribute to children's well-being by assisting with meals, snacks setup and maintaining cleanliness.
• Uphold YMCA Standards: Adhere to all YMCA Policies and Practices, as well as Child Care & Early Years Policies, and uphold our commitment to excellence.
Requirements to thrive in this role:
• Possess a diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education or Child and Youth Worker or Recreation and Leisure Services or Social Services or equivalent.
• Previous experience working with children aged 4 to 12 is preferred, showcasing your ability to engage, support, and guide children in their growth and development.
• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling clear and effective interaction with children, parents, staff, and the wider community.
• Consistently demonstrates responsible, reliable, and trustworthy behavior and ensures confidentiality.
• Demonstrate a genuine commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment and responding with sensitivity and awareness to the diverse needs of children and families.
• Hold a valid Standard First Aid & Infant/Child CPR Level C certification.
• Provide a Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Check (dated within the past 6 months).
