Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist sub contractor to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will offer trauma oriented interventions by assessing, planning, and implementing therapeutic interventions to improve patients' functional abilities. This position offers an opportunity to work with WSIB clients who are returning to work after traumatic incidents. This role will take place in person in the community with clients. Clients will be located in Hamilton and area, as well as St Catharines and area. The Occupational Therapist will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver behavioural activation and prolonged exposure therapy. The Occupational Therapist will also support clients with return to work meetings and activities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical, emotional, and cognitive abilities to develop personalized treatment plans.
- Implement therapeutic interventions aimed at improving daily living skills, motor functions, and overall independence.
- Collaborate with case managers, psychiatrists, treating therapists, psychologists and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Document patient progress accurately and adjust treatment strategies as necessary to meet individual goals.
- Educate patients and their families on strategies to improve self-care, trauma symptoms and coping skills.
- Manage caseloads efficiently while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and documentation standards.
- Stay current with advancements in occupational therapy practices and incorporate evidence-based approaches into patient care.
Qualifications
- Valid registration as an Occupational Therapist in the province of Ontario.
- Willingness to work as a subcontractor
- Willingness to work in-person with clients in the community
- 3 years experience providing CBT
- 3 years experience supporting clients with graduated exposure hierarchies
- Experience working with first responders.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare teams and educate patients.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing clinical situations and prioritize tasks efficiently. This role offers a rewarding opportunity for licensed occupational therapists committed to making a meaningful difference in patients' lives through expert care and support.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $51.18-$115.00 per hour
Expected hours: 5 – 15 per week
