The Director of Sales & Catering is responsible for leading all aspects of catering sales and conference services operations at Delta Hotels by Marriott Regina. This role drives revenue through proactive business development, strategic account management, and exceptional execution of meetings and events, while ensuring seamless collaboration with hotel operations and delivering outstanding guest experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively prospect, solicit, and qualify new catering and group business for the hotel
- Negotiate food and beverage pricing, guest room rates, meeting room rentals, and function space within approved booking guidelines
- Achieve individual catering and conference services booking goals while motivating the team to meet individual targets and combined budget objectives
- Arrange and conduct site inspections, special events, and off-site presentations for prospective clients
- Attend industry networking events and maintain awareness of market and industry trends
- Direct and oversee all aspects of daily catering and conference services operations
- Coordinate, supervise, and manage all group business from booking through event completion, ensuring profitability and high service standards
- Act as the primary liaison between clients and hotel departments to ensure successful meetings and events
- Accurately prepare and/or review catering contracts and banquet event orders (BEOs)
- Utilize Opera and CI/TY systems in full compliance with brand standards
- Work closely with all hotel departments to deliver services agreed upon by the sales office and clients
- Assist with the development and execution of the annual marketing plan and budget
- Produce monthly sales reports and forecasts for assigned areas of responsibility
- Lead, coach, train, hire, and develop the catering and conference services team
- Monitor team member performance, including scheduling, coaching, counselling, evaluations, and recognition
- Conduct annual performance reviews and support ongoing professional development
- Handle all guest interactions with the highest level of hospitality and professionalism
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and effectively communicate them to the team
- Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, sales initiatives, and hotel functions
- Attend marquee events hosted at the hotel to ensure service excellence and client satisfaction
- Contribute to team success by assisting with projects and tasks as required
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Regional Director of Sales & Marketing and the General Manager
QUALIFICATIONS: Proven experience in catering sales, conference services, or hotel sales leadership. Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship building skills. Demonstrated ability to lead teams and achieve revenue targets. Experience with Opera and CI/TY systems preferred. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by business demands
College Degree, extensive work experience or equivalent. A minimum of two years in sales and marketing to include one year of food and/ or hospitality related work experience is preferred. Special consideration will be given to those who exhibit exemplary performance
HOURS OF WORK: Must be available during regular business hours. The hotel operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so operational demands require variations in shift days, starting times and hours worked in a week. Must be available for occasional evenings and weekends as needed for events.
