About The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Machine Learning Engineer to join our Security Solutions Data Science team in Vancouver, Canada. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and deploying advanced AI and ML models that underpin Mastercard's fraud detection and security systems. Your expertise will contribute to building scalable, resilient, and automated processes for model creation, evaluation, and deployment.
You will collaborate closely with data scientists and engineering teams to optimize existing modeling pipelines, develop high-performance computation engines capable of handling petabytes of data, and create reusable, well-architected products that enhance our fraud detection capabilities. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on innovative solutions that impact millions of digital transactions worldwide, leveraging your problem-solving skills and technical expertise to advance Mastercard's mission of secure and seamless digital payments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related STEM field
- Proficiency in Linux/Bash environments
- Experience with Python, Pyspark, Airflow, CI/CD pipelines, JIRA, Hadoop, SQL, Databricks, Ray
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
- Excellent communication skills for cross-team collaboration
- High degree of initiative and proactive mindset
- Knowledge of deploying and validating production AI/ML artifacts
- Understanding of data engineering principles and scalable computing architectures
Nice To Have
- Graduate degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or related STEM fields
- Experience in Data Science and machine learning model development
- Knowledge of C++ and/or Rust programming languages
- Experience with error evaluation and model validation techniques
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with data scientists to understand existing modeling pipelines and identify opportunities for optimization and automation
- Develop scalable machine learning tools and frameworks to address complex problems faced by data science teams
- Create and maintain high-throughput computation engines capable of processing large-scale datasets
- Assist deployment teams in deploying, validating, and monitoring AI/ML models in production environments
- Identify innovative solutions and patterns to simplify workflows, automate tasks, and build reusable components for multiple teams
- Design, document, and maintain well-architected AI/ML products that are easy to understand and support ongoing development
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and validation to ensure high-quality deliverables
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in AI and machine learning to continually improve processes and solutions
