Counter Sales Associate

SUMMARY:

We are currently looking for a driven, career motivated, and customer service oriented individual to join our Customer Service Counter team located in Hanover, ON.

DUTIES:

Reporting to the Branch Manager, this role's focus is to generate new and repeat sales by providing customer service excellence at the counter and presenting a professional and attentive image to customers and suppliers. The role will also provide back-up to the warehouse as required.

• Serve customers by phone or in-person, ensuring the customer's order is entered accurately into our system.
• Accurate and efficient picking of customer orders for pick up at the counter and for delivery when appropriate.
• Answer pricing enquiries and stock checks. Provide technical information and product specifications.
• Coordinate delivery arrangements with the customer and monitor scheduled shipment dates to ensure timely delivery and expedite as needed.
• Create and maintain product displays that engage customers and help stimulate sales activity, keeping merchandise and counter areas clean and professional.
• Recommend alternate products based on cost, availability or specifications.
• Communicate promotional sale items as well as discounted slow moving and obsolete inventory.
• Proactive contact with customers to ensure ongoing satisfaction and remain current on consumer preferences, changes in local codes, and product developments.
• Perform various branch administration; billing; vendor returns, etc.
• Provide backup assistance to warehouse through the preparation and packing of orders, assisting in the receiving of material, and helping load/unload trucks as required.
• Assist in annual physical inventory counts.
• Perform other duties as requested by the Branch Manager.

WHAT YOU OFFER:

• Minimum 2-3 years related technical/sales experience preferably in Plumbing or HVAC industry, ideally within a wholesale distribution environment.
• Post-secondary education in Plumbing or HVAC, or equivalent experience, preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Mechanical/Technical aptitude.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Positive attitude and customer service oriented with a sense of urgency.
• Computer literate, with Basic MS Outlook, Word, and Excel skills.
