The Category Manager is NLC's expert and main contact in all aspects of the Beer and RTD categories of beverage alcohol and all related products. This involves creating and managing product assortments and leading the evaluation, selection and merchandising of the products to achieve corporate objectives and sales.
As a member of the NLC Merchandising team, this position is accountable for the following:
- Analyzes category and industry trends leading to decisions on product assortment and promotions which help achieve budget goals and revenue maximization;
- Develops an annual Product Category Strategic Plan including sales forecasts, inventory controls and revenue projections;
- Analyzes product mix to implement and facilitate shelf management strategies with an effort to maximize sales potential and leverage promotional opportunities across categories;
- Manages effective working relationships with Supply Chain Management to improve inventory flow, maximize inventory investment, and identify cost-saving opportunities;
- Designs and develops promotional programs for the retail network;
- Prepares promotional schedule on a timely basis that involves extensive contact with suppliers and their representatives;
- Maintains effective working relationships with supplier representatives to develop comprehensive brand plans that achieve category objectives;
- Provides analysis on supplier/agent sales, profit, return on investment and listing performance;
Ensures the delivery of effective category management techniques in order to maximize profits;
Performs analysis of data using Business Intelligence (BI) and sales analysis software in conjunction with spreadsheet and database software to develop reports.
The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications:
- Undergraduate Degree, preferably in Commerce or Business Administration, with a focus in sales and marketing;
- Minimum three (3) years' work experience as a category manager in the retail/packaged goods industry;
- Thorough knowledge and experience in the analysis and management of promotional brand budgets;
- Extensive knowledge with MS Office Suite and sales analysis software;
- Demonstrated analytical skills.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is highly motivated, possesses excellent problem- solving and analytical abilities, interpersonal and communication skills and is able to work as a member of a results-oriented team.

Salary: HL 22: $83,630.43-$108,718.94
