Description
The Enterprise Server Infrastructure team is seeking a Sr. System Administrator with strong experience in Microsoft server technologies and VMware. The Enterprise Server Infrastructure team supports our compute, virtualization, storage, backup, and other infrastructure platforms across on‑prem and cloud environments. This role requires deep Windows expertise, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to help guide modernization efforts as more workloads move to cloud services.

Primary technologies include Windows Server, Active Directory, Identity Services, VMware vSphere, certificate services, DNS, File Services, PowerShell automation, and related systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and support Windows and VMware server environments across physical, virtual, and cloud platforms.
  • Work with internal customers to define requirements and develop system designs and implementation plans.
  • Perform OS upgrades, patching, and maintenance with minimal downtime.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues, document solutions, and update procedures.
  • Handle escalations and recommend improvements for reliability, security, and performance.
  • Monitor system availability, capacity, and performance, and take corrective action as needed.
  • Experience with VM lifecycle management (provisioning, decommissioning, migrations).
  • Develop and maintain automation tools, scripts, and processes to reduce manual work.
  • Support ongoing modernization efforts, including cloud migration and automated deployment pipelines.
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation for outages and maintenance events.

Qualifications And Experience
Education

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent professional experience may substitute for formal education.
  • Relevant certifications (Microsoft MCSA or MCSE, VMware, Azure, etc.) are preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 5-7 years in IT Operations.
  • Minimum 5 years in Systems Administration or Engineering.
  • Experience supporting large or complex server environments.

Technical Requirements

  • Strong experience with Windows Server 2008 through 2022, including clustering, file services, and core infrastructure roles.
  • Deep knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, LDAP, File Services, SQL Server, and Group Policy.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell for automation and administration.
  • Solid experience with VMware ESXi, vCenter, and capacity or performance monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with networking fundamentals such as routing, switching, firewalls, and load Balancers (F5 or similar).
  • Experience managing storage and backup platforms in Windows environments.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 services, including Azure AD, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and Intune.
  • Basic Linux administration skills, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
  • Experience with monitoring platforms such as New Relic or Zabbix.
  • Experience with ticketing and change management in Enterprise environments (ServiceNow, Remedy, or similar ITSM systems).
  • Experience with Azure or AWS is a plus.
  • Experience with automation and Infrastructure as Code tools (Ansible, Terraform, etc.) is strongly desired.

Additional Requirements

  • Full fluency in English (spoken and written) is required, as this role collaborates closely with U.S.-based teams.
