Job Overview
The Systems Administrator / Operations Support Specialist (Intermediate) provides operational and technical support for Justice Video Network (JVN) technologies and related audio-visual, telecommunications, and video conferencing systems. The role supports internal operations, external users (including judiciary, legal counsel, and public users), vendor coordination, and ongoing system reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Operations & Support
- Provide day-to-day technical support for audio-visual, telecommunications, and video conferencing systems across multiple platforms.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues, including review and validation of system logs.
- Support remote witnesses, legal counsel, and public users with technical onboarding, orientation, and application setup across multiple devices.
- Perform system testing, validate results, and document findings.
Systems Administration & Documentation
- Maintain system manuals, training materials, user documentation, and operational procedures.
- Manage user access and support validation of system activity logs.
- Support software and hardware upgrades in accordance with change management processes.
Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination
- Liaise with third-party vendors for equipment upgrades, repairs, and service performance monitoring.
- Act as a quality-control liaison between business users, vendors, and internal technical teams.
- Coordinate issue resolution to ensure timely and reliable service delivery.
Project & Inventory Support
- Participate in technology implementation and enhancement projects.
- Maintain inventory records and configuration data in the CMDB.
- Update dashboards, daily reports, and operational metrics.
Knowledge Transfer
- Contribute to knowledge transfer through documentation, scripts, project materials, and SharePoint updates.
- Participate in team meetings and one-on-one sessions to ensure continuity throughout the project and operational lifecycle.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience supporting audio-visual and video conferencing hardware and software.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in incident management with strong knowledge of ITIL / ITSM frameworks.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in reporting, dashboard creation, and operational documentation.
- Hands-on experience with video conferencing platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Cisco Webex.
- Knowledge of AV hardware including projectors, microphones, speakers, cameras, AV processors, and control systems (e.g., Crestron, Extron).
- Understanding of signal flow and connectivity standards (HDMI, USB, network-based AV).
- Basic understanding of VoIP systems and PBX configurations.
- Strong knowledge of network fundamentals (TCP/IP, bandwidth requirements for video conferencing).
- Proven ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to support non-technical users professionally.
- Experience working onsite in a structured, enterprise or public-sector environment.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Experience supporting large-scale or mission-critical environments (e.g., judiciary or public service systems).
- Familiarity with emerging audio-visual and video conferencing technologies.
- Experience supporting multiple operating systems (Windows, macOS, iOS, Android).
- Exposure to LAN/WAN infrastructure, routers, and switches.
- Experience coordinating with cross-functional technical teams and external agencies.
- Prior experience in public-sector or justice-related technology environments.
