Sand Truck Operator

Position Overview:
A Sand Truck Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of specialized trucks used to transport and distribute sand for various purposes. Must have experience in a skid steer to load sand. This role requires a strong focus on safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work in diverse weather and road conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Truck Operation: Safely operate sand trucks to transport and distribute sand to designated locations, ensuring compliance with traffic laws and company policies.
- Loading and Unloading: Oversee the proper loading and unloading of sand, ensuring weight distribution and load security meet safety standards.
- Operate skid steer loaders to complete tasks such as loading sand.
- Sand Distribution: Accurately spread sand on roads, construction sites, or other surfaces as required, using truck-mounted equipment.
- Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance of the truck, including checking oil, fuel, tires, and other critical components. Report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of deliveries, mileage, and maintenance activities as required by company policies or regulations.
- Communication: Use communication tools (e.g., CB radios, GPS systems) to coordinate with supervisors, dispatchers, and other team members.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following environmental regulations.
Qualifications:
- Valid Full G driver's license
- Proven experience operating heavy trucks, preferably in sand hauling or similar industries.
- Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety procedures.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and challenging terrains.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as climbing, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
Work Environment:
- Outdoor work in diverse weather conditions, including extreme cold or heat.
- Long hours, including early mornings, nights, weekends, or holidays, depending on operational needs.
- Exposure to dust, noise, and heavy machinery.
