Mechanical Design Engineer

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The position will be responsible for product development while taking into account the principles of lean manufacturing and design for manufacturing, in order to enhance the organization's efficiency and profitability. We are looking for someone with a passion for bringing creative and design oriented furniture solutions to life. The candidate in this position will take a proactive role in studying, researching and developing ideas for new products and the systems used to make them. The role may also involve modifying existing products or processes to increase efficiency or improve performance.

Some key job responsibilities include:

  • Develop and refine innovative product designs using knowledge of materials and processes for laminated wood products, sheet metal, tubular steel, molded plastic, extruded materials, and upholstered products.
  • Utilize software for design efficiency including SolidWorks, Microsoft Excel, and OFGO STUDIO's innovative CAD/CAM technology integration.
  • Create bill of material and costing breakdowns. OFGO STUDIO's innovative technology will auto create bill of materials while integrating with SolidWorks.
  • Utilize design for manufacturing methodologies and work with the manufacturing team to seek continual improvements.
  • Prototype new product design concepts utilizing in house 3D printers and advanced manufacturing machinery. Prototyping process may also include analyzing, identifying and resolving any functionality issues.
  • Ensure product design is in compliance with ANSI-BIFMA industry standards.
  • Liaison with suppliers on product development or process improvement initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A deep knowledge of SolidWorks.
  • At least 1 year of experience directly working on product development.
  • A degree in Engineering or Industrial Design.
  • An enthusiastic team player.
