$17.36 to $27.68 per hour - Salary to be determined based on the level of education required by the student employment categories and the completed current academic level.

SU-01 - Full-time opportunities. 37.5 hours or 40 hours a week depending on the position.

Persons are eligible for student employment with Parks Canada provided they are:

  • Registered as a full time or part-time secondary or post secondary student in an accredited academic program; or
  • Participating in adult education and retraining programs at the secondary level, operated under the authority of an accredited academic institution, and;
  • Meet the minimum age requirement to work in the province or territory where the job is located as well as to any specific age student program requirements. 16 years-old at the time of hire, this is the minimum age to work in Nova Scotia;
  • Have legal status to work in Canada.

About the position

Duties

General laborer duties based on daily operational requirements for example: garbage collection, janitorial duties, and grounds/building/equipment maintenance. Must complete the following tasks: mow lawns, paint decks/tables/benches and interior/exterior walls, plant/weed/water flower and shrub beds, maintain walkways, and assist other Asset personnel in the performance of their duties. Required to use electric or motorized equipment such as tractors, grass string trimmers, shears, lawn mowers, drills, carpentry saws and other tools to complete daily tasks. Also, may be requested to complete other related duties.Training will be provided as required.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/ territorial holidays;
  • Willingness to work in variable weather conditions;
  • Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and prescribed protective equipment;
  • Possession of a valid First Aid and CPR certification;
  • Possession of a valid Driver's license;
  • Perform certain physical tasks as per the job requirements (e.g. lifting minimum of 20 lbs / 10 kgs).
