We are currently looking for a Risk Analyst to join Emera's Corporate Enterprise Risk Management team on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Senior Risk Manager, the successful candidate will support the overall operations of the Market Risk team as well as play an important role in supporting the monthly mark to market financial reporting processes at Emera.
Key elements of this role include:
- Develop expertise in energy risk management and Horizon, Emera's ETRM system. Training and support will be provided;
- Daily monitoring of energy trading activities to ensure compliance with Board mandated policy limits on risk tolerance and deal structure;
- Risk reporting, including production and distribution of various reports to senior management;
- Supporting the structured analysis of complicated long-term deals as well as any related reports;
- Ad-hoc risk analysis and providing detailed calculations supporting the analysis;
- Supporting the month end financial close and mark to market reporting process;
- Working closely with and providing general overall support to the Enterprise Risk Management team as well as internal customers.

- You are tech savvy and bring two (2+) years (or more) of professional analytical experience as a Financial Analyst or equivalent related experience with an emphasis on risk management and/or numerical or statistical applications;
- You possess an undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Financial Engineering, Mathematics, or another related field. Additional consideration may be given to individuals with or working towards a CFA, risk, or other applicable designation;
- A successful candidate can demonstrate high proficiency with the MS Office Suite of software (Excel in particular). Visual Basic, SQL, Microsoft Power BI Reporting development experience and skills would be considered assets;
- Previous work experience:
- Experience within the Energy Industry would be considered an asset. Applicants without energy industry experience will be considered when demonstrating a compensating level of experience and must be willing to gain a strong understanding of the Oil, Gas and Energy Industry;
- Advanced skills in Finance, Mathematics and/or Statistics with a demonstrated ability to understand complex technical/operational concepts, principles and practices is required;
- You have proven expertise or understanding of Risk Metrics and/or numerical/statistical applications. Experience with energy trading or relevant financial platforms will be considered an asset;
- Strong relationship and communication skills as well as excellent multi-tasking abilities are essential. You thrive in a fast paced, deadline driven and team focused work environment. You are a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with the ability to adapt to a growing, changing environment.
