Job Overview

We are recruiting a Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team in Fort McMurray, AB. In this role, you will be responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and ongoing maintenance of a diverse fleet of heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and other equipment. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in heavy truck and trailer repair with on/off-road equipment experience, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine servicing of heavy equipment and vehicles, including oil changes, filter replacements, brake inspections, fluid checks, and lubrication, to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems on a wide range of heavy-duty equipment
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure safety and functionality. Able to diagnose and repair manufacturers spec.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools to accurately identify mechanical issues and recommend timely, cost-effective solutions.
  • Maintain detailed, accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, parts usage, and inspection reports in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Work in collaboration with other team members to coordinate repairs and prioritize equipment servicing based on operational needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Heavy-Equipment Technician including on/off-road experience, or in a related field
  • Journeyperson certification required
  • Valid Driver's License, preferably Class 1 or 3
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail and sound judgment skills
  • Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing including marijuana.
  • Must be fit-for-duty.
