The Generator Technician will diagnose, repair, and maintain natural gas generators, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This position will also verify and adjust breaker settings to meet project requirements and proactively identify opportunities to improve generator performance and reliability.
This is 2 weeks on, 1 week off rotational position in Midland, Texas.

What you will be Doing:
- Performing advanced inspections, diagnostics, and modifications on natural gas generators and related electrical equipment.
- Troubleshooting and repairing electrical and mechanical issues involving engines, generators, and control systems.
- Interpreting and adjusting breaker and relay settings, ensuring alignment with electrical distribution standards.
- Using test instruments (multimeters, ammeters, megohmmeters) to diagnose and verify equipment performance.
- Conducting preventive maintenance including testing of batteries, fuel, coolant, and oil.
- Reading and interpreting electrical wiring diagrams, schematics, and mechanical drawings.
- Disassembling clean, inspect, and reassemble generator components with minimal supervision.
- Testing all completed repairs to confirm proper function and reliability.
- Documenting work performed and maintaining accurate electronic records.
- Assisting in training junior technicians on troubleshooting and repair procedures.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area.
Your Skills and Qualifications:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in power generation service and repair.
- Experience with natural gas engines, preferably Caterpillar or Jenbacher units.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, including breakers, transformers, relays, and distribution.
- Excellent troubleshooting and technical diagnostic skills.
- Ability to interpret complex schematics and electrical diagrams.
- Proficient in the use of computers and maintenance software.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- High integrity, attention to detail, and a self-motivated, safety-first attitude.
- Ability to travel on a rotation schedule as required.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and use all appropriate safety equipment.
