Role Overview

The Supply Planning Manager is responsible for ensuring the availability of products through effective forecasting, inventory optimization, and supply chain planning. This role requires a data-driven, analytical leader who can balance demand and supply, reduce waste, and enhance efficiency while supporting business growth. The position involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams and a strong focus on continuous improvement within a dynamic retail or FMCG environment.

Key Responsibilities

Planning & Forecasting

  • Lead the end-to-end supply planning process across multiple business units.
  • Develop accurate demand forecasts to align inventory with sales and operational requirements.
  • Partner with Trading, Marketing, and Procurement teams to incorporate seasonality, promotions, and new product launches into forecasts.

Inventory Management

  • Monitor stock levels, identifying shortages, surpluses, shelf-life risks, and expiring products to minimize waste.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels to meet availability targets while controlling holding costs.
  • Ensure efficient stock rotation and replenishment processes.

Process Improvement & Analytics

  • Develop and refine SOPs for supply planning, demand forecasting, and inventory control.
  • Utilize analytics to evaluate supply chain performance, service levels, and efficiencies.
  • Track and report key KPIs, recommending actions to address gaps and improve processes.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Coordinate with Procurement, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and IT for accurate data flow and alignment of strategies.
  • Support new product introductions and phase-outs, ensuring smooth ERP integration.
  • Provide regular, actionable reports and insights to senior leadership.

Risk Management

  • Identify supply risks, communicate potential disruptions, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Adjust plans proactively to address inconsistencies or market fluctuations.
  • Stay updated on industry trends to inform purchasing and reduce costs.

Technology & Systems

  • Work with IT to adopt and optimize planning tools and technologies.
  • Safeguard data integrity and leverage technology for timely, informed decision-making.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of supply chain planning, logistics, and inventory management.
  • Experience in procurement and vendor management.
  • Advanced analytical and statistical capabilities, with proficiency in ERP and planning systems.
  • Skilled in data reporting and visualization (Excel, Power BI, or similar).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in supply chain, logistics, or inventory management, ideally within retail or FMCG sectors.
