The Opportunity

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring accuracy in data entry, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations. This role requires proficiency in payroll systems and accounting software, as well as strong analytical skills to support financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process payroll for employees accurately and on time.
  • Perform data entry tasks to maintain up-to-date employee records and payroll information.
  • Conduct account reconciliation to ensure payroll accounts are balanced and discrepancies are addressed promptly.
  • Collaborate with the Human Resources department to verify employee information and resolve any payroll-related inquiries.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable functions related to payroll transactions.
  • Utilize accounting software for financial reporting and analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local payroll regulations and tax requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports for management regarding payroll metrics and trends.

Experience

  • Proven experience in payroll administration or a similar role is preferred.
  • Experience processing payroll and dues remittances in a union environment is an asset (ie. IBEW 353/TEIBAS or equivalent).
  • Strong data entry skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all financial records.
  • Background in Human Resources or accounting, including knowledge of account reconciliation processes.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with employees and management regarding payroll matters.

Working Conditions

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $46,014.54-$77,626.51 per year

Expected hours: 24 – 40 per week
