Business Intelligence Analyst

15 month contract with potential to extend

On site, in office position in Regina, SK.

Description:

Seeking experienced Business Intelligence Analysts with deep expertise in data management, business intelligence tools, and data architectural methodologies. The role focuses on transforming complex datasets into actionable insights, designing end-to-end BI solutions, and supporting digital transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement BI and data solutions aligned with business and digital transformation goals
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain SQL queries, scripts, and reporting assets
  • Build and enhance Power BI dashboards using Power Query, DAX, and enterprise BI practices
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into technical specifications and guide them through full solution delivery
  • Analyze complex datasets to extract insights and recommend technical improvements
  • Support integration and visualization of data from legacy and on-prem systems into modern cloud environments
  • Apply data architecture principles, including Lakehouse architecture, Delta format, and STAR schema modeling
  • Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Ensure compliance with security standards, governance frameworks, and applicable legislation

Desired skills & experience:

  • 10+ years of experience applying modern data management principles in a BI Analyst or similar role
  • Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Sciences, or equivalent experience (minimum 10 years)
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to develop tailored content
  • Proven ability to guide stakeholders through the solutioning process from concept to delivery
  • Experience designing technology solutions that support organizational transformation
  • Government (federal/provincial/municipal) or similar regulated-environment experience
  • Strong SQL expertise, including query optimization and script/report development
  • Advanced proficiency with Power BI, Power Query, DAX, and enterprise BI environments
  • Experience with Power BI Service, Microsoft Azure, and Databricks
  • Knowledge of Lakehouse architecture and Delta format
  • Data analysis, problem solving, and the ability to derive insights from complex dataset
  • Experience with content management, data governance, and data management programs
  • Understanding of STAR schema, analytical data models, industry security standards, and PIPEDA

$60 - $80 per hour for an INC consultant.
