Belting Technician – PTFE (Mississauga)
Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the duties outlined below:
- Read technical drawings, diagrams and schematics to determine work procedures for CNC machine and die punch machines
- Inspect and examine conveyor belts to detect and investigate irregularities, malfunctions, and defects
- Maintain industrial sewing machines and related instruments
- Operate mechanical tools like multi task protractor to accurately measure and cut conveyor belts to extremely high precision of less than one degree
- Perform belt fabrication with extreme accuracy and repeatability including Cut To Length, Lacing, Finger Splicing and Slitting operations
- Installation of edging, fasteners, and custom accessories utilizing heavy duty industrial grade sewing machines, pneumatic die presses and pneumatic heat presses
- Maintain and reports unexpected mechanical behaviors in pneumatic systems
- Move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment including die presses, heat presses
- Operate lifting devices such as forklifts, jacks to position material and parts during the repair of conveyor belts
- Repair and rework defective parts for heavy duty conveyor belt installation using 700 degrees Fahrenheit welding machines
- Assist the maintenance team repairing, dismantling, and assembling parts of machinery and equipment prior to and post installation using hand tools such as wrenches, rachets, hammer, crowbar, allen key, socket sets as well use the power tools such as drills and hand grinders.
- The post-installation repair of industrial grade conveyor belts such as the repair of mistracking belts
- Operate machine tools such as grinders to grind splices, 700 degrees hand-tackers, hot irons adhering devices to manufacture and repair industrial and food grade conveyor belts
- Sort customer orders by priority sequence and fill out from stock and/or according to their requirements
- Ensure that stock inventory level is maintained at all times in order to serve orders within the two-day delivery time frame set for tapes
- Safely operate the rewinder / slitter and rewinding machines, when required
- Diligently follow all safety procedures to load and unload rolls, when required
- Stage roll stock for splitting as per rewinder / slitting schedule, when required
- Ensure rolls produced conform to the required gauge standard
- Accurately record weight and other relevant information for roll stock produced
- Separate and highlight any rolls that are not in conformance with specifications
- Package & store the slit roll as per established standards
- Perform general warehouse duties, material handling, order picking, sorting boxes, packaging, order processing and fulfillment, when required
- Remove waste material from line when required
- Fill all required tracking forms or traceability documents while on duty
- Complete any additional special assignments as assigned by the Production/ Operations Manager.
Knowledge & Skills Requirement:
- Prior experience as industrial machine operator is required
- High school Diploma, GED, Technical/Trade School or equivalent experience
- Must be able to read and interpret measuring devices (tape measures, calipers, scales)
- Ability to complete basic mathematical functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide) using whole numbers, fractions, decimals and metric system
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control, and material handling procedures.
- Familiarity with 5S methodology and Lean manufacturing principles.
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
- Must be able to work in Canada for any employer
- This position requires the ability to lift 50 lbs. and to stand for long periods of time
Salary & Conditions:
- Job Location: Ammega Canada Inc., 265 Export Boulevard, Mississauga
- Salary: $21 hourly
- Days of work: Monday to Friday, 40 hours, 6:30 am 3:00 pm
The hiring is open to all applicants able to work 40 hours per week.
