 DESCRIPTION OF PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the work of assigned trades to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality execution.
  • Enforce adherence to safety regulations, work permits, and site-specific procedures through regular inspections and safety leadership.
  • Manage manpower, materials, and equipment to align with project schedules and productivity targets.
  • Read and apply blueprints, drawings, and specifications to guide field operations and ensure accurate execution.
  • Inspect work to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and job hazard assessments to promote a strong safety culture.
  • Act as a liaison between project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and trades to resolve field issues and maintain workflow.
  • Monitor daily progress, identify delays or resource gaps, and provide timely updates to leadership.
  • Support the training and development of apprentices fostering skill growth. 
  • Maintain a zero-incident safety record through proactive site supervision and enforce safety protocols. 

PERFORMANCE & TECHNICAL OBJECTIVES

  • Ensure the project is completed on time, within budget and to specification. 
  • Maintain daily and weekly schedules, adjusting resources as required to meet deadlines. 
  • Conduct daily safety inspections and weekly toolbox talks.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with local, provincial, and federal safety regulations.
  • Supervise and coordinate all trades, subcontractors, and site personnel.
  • Resolve on-site conflicts promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain clear communication with project managers, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Optimize use of labor, materials, and equipment to reduce waste and downtime.

KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATION

  • Journey level Red Seal certification from a recognized provincial training authority considered an asset.
  • Proven 7+ years of experience supervising, leading and managing trades personnel in a maintenance, turnaround and construction environment. 
  • Leadership for Safety Excellence Certificate. 
  • General Site Training Certificates (ie: Fall Protection, CSTS, WHMIS, H2S, First Aid-CPR, etc.)
