Position Description
Title: Machine Tender
Department: Coating
Location: Cornwall, ON
Reports to: Production Supervisor
Position Overview: The Machine Tender plays a key role in supporting production by operating and maintaining tape manufacturing equipment. This position is responsible for preparing materials, performing machine setups and changeovers, assisting with quality control and troubleshooting. By ensuring smooth machine operation and collaborating with team members, the Machine Tender helps maintain safe working conditions, minimize downtime, and achieve production targets.
Principle Accountabilities
Prepare and blend adhesives; fill hoppers and tanks as requiredLoad, splice, and thread raw material rolls through machinesPerform machine changeovers and adjust components such as blades and profilesUnload jumbo rolls and change shafts safely and efficientlyOperate forklifts, complete safety checks, and change batteries as neededRecord raw material usage and calculate application ratesMonitor machine performance and assist with troubleshooting to minimize downtimeSupport coating line operations and cover for the operator when necessarySet up materials and documentation for the incoming shiftMaintain a clean and organized work area throughout the shiftConduct cycle counts and assists with inventory accuracyTrain new employees on machine operation and safety proceduresPromote a collaborative and respectful team environmentFollow all safety protocols and use required PPE at all timesPerform other duties as assignedWork Conditions
Rotating shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekendsPhysically demanding work including lifting up to 55 lbs and standing for extended periodsFast-paced manufacturing environment requiring attention to detailExposure to noise, adhesives, and moving machineryConsistent attendance and punctuality are essentialUse of personal protective equipment is mandatoryQualifications and Requirements
High school diploma or equivalentMinimum 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment preferredForklift license or ability to obtain and maintain oneBilingual in French is an assetStrong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterityAbility to read and follow work instructions and machine setup manualsProven ability to work independently and as part of a teamStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting skillsComfortable working under pressure and meeting production deadlinesSolid understanding of safety regulations and production proceduresGood communication skills, both verbal and writtenWhy Choose IPG?
