We are looking for a highly motivated Store Clerk & Grocery Stocker to join our team Hopcott's is proud to support local vendors and provide our customers with the highest quality products.

The successful candidate must be available Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, with flexible availability to cover shifts.

Position Purpose: Help keep our store organized and inviting Maintain retail shelves and inventory areas, create and refresh attractive product displays, and provide a friendly, helpful customer experience by assisting with product questions and operating the till.

The Store Clerk/Grocery Stocker's Job Responsibilities Include:

Stocking & Merchandising

• Stock shelves, coolers, freezers, bakery, cheese, and home décor areas.
• Keep shelves neat, organized, and customer ready.
• Rotate products, check dates, remove expired items, and ensure correct labeling and pricing.
• Maintain clean and visually appealing displays.

Inventory & Receiving

• Receive deliveries and check items against invoices.
• Move stock to departments and organize overstock areas.
• Break down cardboard and manage recycling.

Food Handling & Packaging

• Package, label, and prepare bulk food items safely.

Safety & Cleanliness

• Keep work areas clean and hazard-free.
• Follow safety procedures and promote safe practices.

Customer Service & Point of Sale

• Greet and assist customers with questions or locating items.
• Operate the cash register efficiently.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

Work Environment

• Work comfortably in cool retail areas, including refrigerated and freezer spaces.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stay on your feet for an 8-hour shift.
• Frequent bending, crouching, and other physical movements required.

Appearance & Uniform Standards

• Wear Hopcott uniform: black shirt and black or dark grey pants; no baggy hoodies.
• Colored hair allowed if well-maintained.
• Hopcott-branded gear, hats, or toques are permitted.
• Maintain a professional, approachable appearance for customers.

Skills & Qualifications:

Education & Experience

• Experience in customer service, retail, or décor merchandising is a plus.
• Food Safe Level 1 or equivalent certification is required.

Customer Service & Interpersonal Skills

• Friendly, approachable, and passionate about helping customers.
• Enjoys working as part of a team and supporting colleagues.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.85 per hour

Expected hours: 16 – 24 per week
