is a rapidly growing international manufacturer operating in the Petrochemicals and Plastics Industries. We seek a Regulatory Affairs Scientist to support development of new products, technical service, raw materials qualifications, and ensure regulatory compliance in the broad area of polyolefins and polyolefins additives.
We are looking for a regulatory affairs scientist to lead our support and compliance efforts. The Regulatory Affairs Scientist will ensure compliance with local and international regulations concerning the documentation, labelling and use of polymers and polymer additives by the company, and its products by its customers. The Regulatory Affairs Scientist will help drive further growth in Ingenia's business through support of development, procurement and technical support functions. Ingenia's products are in the broad areas of polyolefins compounds, masterbatches and additives used to service the polyolefin production and conversion (extrusion, molding, forming) industries. Ingenia's markets are in the areas of polyolefin flexible packaging, pressure pipe, rotomoulding, additive manufacturing, structural and advanced materials. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and manage all regulatory information for Ingenia's masterbatch, compound and additive products to local and international regulations including, specifically food contact regulations in the USA (including FDA), EU (including No 10/2011), Japan, Mercosur, India and China.
- Prepare regulatory compliance documents for customers including regulatory data sheets, safety data sheets, documents of compliance, and food contact statements.
- Monitor new developments in relevant regulatory areas, assure appropriate interpretation of these regulations, and communicate the impact to the business, product development and procurement. Attend conferences, and identify opportunities for training to stay up to date on regulatory developments in the fields of polymers, packaging and food contact materials.
- Provide direction to R&D, technical service, quality control, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing to coordinate and implement changes to affected specifications, documentation in response to formula changes and / or new regulations.
- Lead evaluations and approvals of alternative raw materials.
- Build and improve materials compliance systems including identification, evaluation and recommendation of related software solutions.
- Represent Ingenia and act as the contact for customers on matters of regulatory compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Polymer Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Materials Science & Engineering, Polymers Science & Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field.
- 5-10 years of experience in regulatory affairs within the plastics industry. Specific industry experience dealing with polyolefins and related polymer additives and suppliers, including for food contact and drinking water.
- Experienced in food contact regulations including those of FDA, EU (EU No 10/2011), Mercosur, Japan, Canada, India and China.
- Ability to work cooperatively as part of a cross-functional team with peers, managers and technicians.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Ability to communicate professionally, both internally and to customers and suppliers.
