About The Role
As a
Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)
at Aequilibrium, you will be embedded within agile scrum teams supporting large-scale digital modernization initiatives for Canadian public-sector partners. You will play a leading role in designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing cloud-native infrastructure and operational automation across Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and OpenShift Private Cloud environments.
This role requires deep technical expertise in infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring and observability, incident response, and container orchestration. You will support high availability, scalability, compliance, and operational excellence across mission-critical digital services—while coaching team members, improving reliability practices, and influencing engineering culture.
Qualifications & Requirements
Must-Have
- 5+ years of professional experience as an SRE, DevOps Engineer, Platform Engineer, or Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
- Advanced experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and OpenShift Private Cloud
- Hands-on expertise with Kubernetes (GKE), OpenShift, and container orchestration
- Strong experience with IaC tools such as Terraform or GCP Deployment Manager
- Proficiency in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or OpenShift Pipelines
- Deep knowledge of monitoring and logging systems (Prometheus, Grafana, Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, PagerDuty)
- Experience developing automation scripts and operational tooling
- Solid understanding of cloud security best practices, compliance requirements, and vulnerability scanning
- Strong ability to lead post-incident reviews and implement systematic improvements
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills within cross-functional teams
Nice to Have
- Experience with BC Gov OpenShift Private Cloud environments
- Experience with Apache Solr in a containerized environment
- Familiarity with or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
- Experience working in public-sector, enterprise, or highly regulated environments
- Scripting experience (e.g., Python, Bash, Go)
- Infrastructure cost optimization experience
