Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and sterilized equipment following aseptic techniques.
- Assist dentists chairside during various procedures including restorations, extractions, endodontic treatments, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced imaging technology such as 3D scanners and medical imaging tools while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations.
- Manage patient records efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Epic; document treatment details accurately and ensure compliance with medical documentation standards.
- Monitor vital signs and assess patient comfort before, during, and after procedures to ensure a positive experience.
- Educate patients on oral health care practices, post-treatment instructions, and answer questions about procedures or billing processes.
- Maintain infection control protocols by following established sterilization procedures and managing inventory of dental supplies.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist team and managing medical records for seamless patient flow.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with knowledge of general dentistry procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic; proficiency in medical coding and documentation is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging devices safely and effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to interact confidently with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics; experience in pediatric dentistry is a plus.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
- Certification in chairside assisting along with CPR certification preferred; additional training in endodontics or prosthodontics is advantageous.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment supporting four-handed dentistry practices while maintaining attention to detail.
