Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled System Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. The System Engineer will play a key role in managing cloud services, virtualization platforms, and enterprise applications, ensuring optimal performance and security across all environments.
Duties
- Design, deploy, and manage virtualized environments using VMware and other virtualization tools.
- Maintain and optimize operating systems including Windows, Linux, and Unix-based platforms such as Bash (Unix shell) and Shell Scripting.
- Develop and implement automation scripts to streamline system administration tasks using Python, Bash, or Shell Scripting.
- Manage cloud infrastructure on AWS and Azure, including deployment, scaling, and security configurations.
- Configure and support VPNs for secure remote access across multiple locations.
- Oversee database management systems such as SQL and Oracle, ensuring data integrity and performance.
- Collaborate with development teams to support DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to minimize downtime.
- Ensure security compliance by applying best practices for network security, access controls, and data protection.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and policies for ongoing maintenance and audits.
Qualifications
- Proven experience with VMware virtualization platforms.
- Strong knowledge of operating systems including Windows, Linux, and Unix environments.
- Hands-on experience with cloud services such as AWS and Azure.
- Familiarity with VPN configuration and management for secure remote connectivity.
- Programming skills in Java, Python, Bash (Unix shell), or Shell Scripting are highly desirable.
- Proficiency with SQL databases as well as Oracle database management systems.
- Understanding of DevOps methodologies and tools for automation and continuous integration.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex system issues efficiently while maintaining high levels of security standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills coupled with strong communication abilities. This position is ideal for a motivated IT professional eager to leverage their technical expertise in a fast-paced environment dedicated to innovation and excellence in technology solutions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $54,033.69-$145,204.80 per year
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Edmonton, AB
