Underground Mechanic

Work Location: Sudbury Area (underground mine setting)

The primary role of the heavy-duty equipment Mechanic is to perform preventive maintenance and repairs to diesel, electrical, hydraulic and air operated equipment. This includes mobile equipment, drills, small tools, and miscellaneous equipment used in the mining industry. Candidate must be experienced with reading blueprints and maintaining all types of heavy-duty mining equipment.

The following is a list of duties relating to this position. These may be adjusted by your supervisor as required. Your safety will always be our priority with all assigned tasks:

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow all established policies, procedures, and best practices as well as industry specific regulations
  • Always be physically and mentally fit for work
  • Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform duties in a safe and efficient manner
  • Must be able to follow proper procedure to ensure safety and to control equipment damage
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum Education: Trade Certification
  • Minimum Experience: 3 Years maintenance and repairs to underground mining equipment
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions
  • Positive attitude with the ability to work collaboratively within a team
