Summary:

DMC is currently looking for Development Miner - Bolters to join our team on a contract basis, based in Sudbury, Ontario. Reporting to the Supervisor, the Development Miner-Bolter is responsible to drill, blast, operate mining machinery, and perform related duties to extract ore in underground mines and to construct tunnels, passageways to facilitate mining, scaling loose rock, drilling, loading and blasting and ensuring that the drilling patterns follow the mining plans in safe manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate drills and drilling machines to produce a designated pattern of blasting holes.
  • Set up and operate mining machinery to cut ore from the working face.
  • Load explosives, set fuses, and detonate explosives to produce desired blasting patterns and rock fragmentation in underground mines.
  • Operate jackleg and stoper, bolting off a scissor deck, scooptram, load-haul-dump (LHD) machine or mucking machine to load and haul ore from stopes, drifts and drawpoints to ore passes.
  • Perform duties required to support the mining advance, such as: scaling loose rock from walls, drilling and installing rock bolts, extending and installing air and water pipes, operating ore loading machinery and constructing timber supports and cribbing if required.
  • Ensures that all employees in the workplace take responsibility for aspects of Occupational Health and Safety, over which they have control, including adherence to all Occupational Health and Safety requirements applicable to DMC Mining Services.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience as an underground development miner.
  • Basic Underground Common Core program.
  • Required specialty module(s) U0018-Operate Mechanized Rock Bolter.
