About The Role
In this role, you will contribute to government relations efforts across a broad spectrum of sectors. Working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, the ideal applicant will possess a strong understanding of the Government of Canada and the federal policy decision-making processes. Candidates should be results-oriented, well-organized, conscientious, able to work independently and as part of a team to execute deliverables within stated timelines and have a proactive mindset.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about public affairs and government issues, be analytical, hands-on and exercise excellent judgment.
Title could be Senior Consultant or Consultant, depending on experience.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting clients and client leads across several sectors and mandates;
- Monitoring and analyzing government legislation and regulations;
- Writing and editing briefing notes, stakeholder maps, policy analyses, and other documents;
- Preparing materials for meetings and submissions; and
- Advocating with politicians, officials, and political staff.
Qualifications
- University degree, diploma or a combination of education and experience
- 3-6 years of experience in public affairs/government relations and/or related fields
- Strong writing skills
- Strong understanding of the Canadian government and federal politics
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a commitment to teamwork
- Strong organization and prioritization skills, along with solid attention to detail
- Ability to lobby Canadian federal public office holders
