The Confluence is seeking one (1) Visitor Experience Guide to support the Programs/Visitor Experience team by filling schedule gaps. We are specifically looking for astrong tour guide to help fill current gaps in our tour and program schedule. In this role, you will lead tours and assist with public programs and visitor experience operations. This role will require evening and weekend availability.
What will you do?
Tours & Public Programming
- Lead engaging, high-quality tours for diverse audiences, filling current gaps in the tour and program schedule.
- Support with the facilitation of a variety of public program offerings
- Work closely with the Senior Manager and Visitor Experience/Programs team to contribute to the research and creation of site-specific program content.
- Assist with program set-up/tear down and with A/V tech for programs as needed.
Visitor Experience & Front Desk Support
- Provide front desk coverage during operating hours as needed and support daily opening/closing procedures and tracking visitor numbers.
- Act as a welcoming ambassador for The Confluence, ensuring a positive, inclusive visitor experience.
- Offer exhibit interpretation and wayfinding support to visitors.
Other
- Support operations during large event days and special events
- Other tasks as required
Qualifications
- Some university education in history, social work, museum studies, Indigenous studies, Canadian art history, archaeology, education, theatre, or another relevant field.
- Minimum 1 year of experience leading tours or delivering interpretive programming in a museum, cultural site, heritage site, or similar public-facing environment.
- Strong customer and visitor service skills, with a warm, approachable, and professional communication style.
- Must be tolerant, non-judgmental, and bring a high degree of compassion and respect when working with diverse communities.
- Understanding of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action for Museums, gained through lived experience, work experience, education, or a combination of these.
- Ability to speak more than one language is considered an asset.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with advance scheduling coordination
- Free parking available on-site.
