By effectively building positive rapport and relationships both internally and externally, the successful candidate will help us achieve our mission that together we deliver services that make a difference in our community.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Zoning & Regulation, the Planning Technician II is responsible for providing technical support to the planning department including preparing digital mapping services, database management and developing digital geographic datasets.

• Maintain and update the Town of Whitby's property database in AMANDA, to ensure an accurate record of Whitby's Active Property records;
• Ensure Development Applications are correctly associated with the correct property;
• Perform AMANDA maintenance.
• Complete Mapping Technical Service requests and analyze spatial data from Planning Staff;
• Maintain and update the Geodatabases and Spatial Data Layers;
• Maintain and update Town of Whitby maps.
• Maintain and update the Town of Whitby's Official Plan Schedule Data;
• Respond to telephone, email and in person inquiries;
• Provide data to clients and consultants through data sharing agreements.
• Providing graphic and technical services;
• Assisting with special or ad-hoc projects.

What You Bring To Our Team
As the successful applicant, you must possess:

• A two (2) year post-secondary diploma in Planning Technician, GIS, Geography, or a related discipline;
• A minimum of two (2) years of directly related work experience;
• Eligibility to become a full member with the Canadian Association of Certified Planning Technicians (C.A.C.P.T);
• A proficiency in AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel), and databases;
• A working knowledge of the Planning Act and the regulations.
