The Central Precast, a leading manufacturer of precast concrete products and a dealer of landscaping and masonry products in Eastern Ontario, servicing commercial, industrial and residential clients is currently looking for a full-time permanent Experienced Welder.

Responsibilities

• Interpret welding process specifications
• Operate manual or semi-automatic, full automated welding equipment
• Operate flame-cutting equipment
• Operate brakes, shears and other metal shaping, straightening and bending machines
• Fit, braze and torch-straighten metal
• Operate oxygen arc cutting equipment
• Determine weldability of materials
• Operate hoisting and lifting equipment
• Operate previously set-up welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products
• Complete Field Level Risk Assessments before beginning each task

Qualifications

Education Required

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Assets

• Welding Certificate

Years of Experience

• Minimum 3 years of welding experience

Specific Experience

• Reading and interpreting blueprints and plans
• Prior experience in a welding shop
• Experience with layout forms

Competencies

• Maintain high level of safety at all times
• Able to work in a fast paced, high production environment
• Willing to work overtime and shifts when needed including Saturdays
• Maintain a professional attitude at all times, especially when handling stressful situations
• Able to work unsupervised, motivated to complete all tasks
• Able to communicate, and work well with others in a team environment
• Able to lift 50 lbs.
• Repetitive tasks

Equipment and Machinery Experience

• Butt or seam resistance welding machine
• Arc welding machine, spot welding machine
• Grinders, saws
• Torches

Own Tools/Equipment

• Steel-toed safety boots

Working Conditions

• Unionized, permanent, Full-time, 44 hours/week
