Manufacturing Engineer and Operations
Forge builds automated CNC factories that enable mechanical engineers to go from CAD to physical part 2x faster than anyone else. We take engineer's ideas and turn them into finished prototypes within 4 days or less. Our first factory has been running for 1 year and we have shipped thousands of parts to engineers all over North America. We're looking for people who are interested in manufacturing and speeding up hardware development.\
\
What we are building:
We are trying to build the most efficient machine shop in the world. To do this, we are developing a world-class operations team that is very hands on with the day to day manufacturing team. The operations team is constantly seeing and making new designs for companies all the way from Fortune 10 consumer electronics giants, down to newest space start-ups. We have to come up with efficient and reliable processes to make these parts. We also have the blessing of having a team of SWEs and MEs building us any tool you can possibly imagine to make you more efficient.
Right now, customers log onto our website and upload STEP files to receive an instant quote and pay. Once they do that, we have four days to ship those parts out. It will be your job to help get these parts out the door along side our team of machinists. Give it a try at
About the Role:
This role is very boots on the ground. You will be working along side our team of machinists to make parts for our customers. Your day to day will mostly live at the beginning stages of our manufacturing flow. This includes quoting, DFM, process planning and CAM programming. If you are excited about manufacturing and want to have a good mixture of desk/computer work with hands on building, this is a perfect role for you
Specifically, you will:
- Review RFQs and provide DFM feedback to customers
- Work on developing process plans for each part we make
- Program parts using in-house CAM software and Fusion360
- Putting out fires on the manufacturing floor. Stuff will break, and you will need to be able to think fast and fix things
- Come up with ideas on how we can improve our operations
- Work autonomously and be self motivated to ship as many parts as possible
What we want to see
- Someone who is no afraid to get their hands dirty
- Some CAM or CNC experience. You don't need to be an expert, we will get you up to speed.
- Strong problem solving skills and ability to learn concepts quickly
- Have built your own projects or worked on systems that are used by people
- If you tinker in your free time, we'd love to see a project.
- Engineering degree is not required, however you will need to have a strong math/physics baseline in order to grasp certain concepts.
