Temporary Full-Time (1.0 FTE) Student Services Counselor

Salary and benefits are per the current CUPE #4799 agreement. This position will commence as soon as possible and conclude on February 27, 2026. 

About Horizon School Division  The Horizon School Division office is located approximately 100 km east of Saskatoon in the thriving community of Humboldt, SK. The Division serves approximately 6,400 students located in 32 communities. This progressive Board is known for its strong support for small schools, effective professional development, high teacher engagement, innovative approaches, and sound fiscal management. The school division is located on Treaty 6 and Treaty 4 territory, and is comprised of 43 schools, including partnerships with seven First Nation Authorities. The Division runs the first provincially operated school in Canada located on George Gordon First Nation. 
 
 The Opportunity  Working under the direct supervision of the Superintendent of Student Wellness, Horizon School Division is seeking a highly motivated individual to provide counseling and conflict resolution to students within our Division and to their families. 
 
Key Roles and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in individual, group and crisis counseling
  • Demonstrated ability in conflict resolution and mediation skills as it relates to school personnel, students and other agencies.
  • Ability to manage high-stress situations.
  • Ability to successfully contribute as part of a case management team.
Education, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor of Social Work (B.S.W.) with a major in Personal Counseling or an equivalent degree in Social Sciences.
  • Experience working within the elementary and secondary school context would be considered an asset.
  • One (1) year of experience and demonstrated success in providing counseling services to students and their families would be considered an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License
